Head of Human Resources

Aga Khan Foundation, Pakistan

 

The Aga Khan Foundation, Pakistan (AKF(P)) is seeking a high calibre professional for the position of Head of Human Resources to be based in Islamabad, Pakistan and travel to project areas.

 

As a business partner to the CEO and SMT, the Head of Human Resources (HR) at Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan (AKF Pakistan) holds key leadership role. The role is responsible for overseeing all HR functions within the organization and provides HR support to sister agencies as needed.

 

The Head of Human Resources will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and practices to attract, retain, and develop top talent, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture, and ensuring compliance with local labor laws and AKF Global HR guidelines.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

 

HR Strategy and Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with AKF Pakistan's programme direction and Global HR strategy.
  • Develop and implement HR plans, policies, and procedures to address organizational needs.

 

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Lead the recruitment and selection process to identify and onboard top talent.
  • Develop and maintain a talent pipeline for current and future organizational needs.
  • Implement effective performance management systems to facilitate employee growth and development.

 

Employee Relations:

  • Foster a positive workplace culture, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Address employee concerns and conflicts, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Oversee employee engagement initiatives and activities.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Manage the organization's compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
  • Regularly review and as needed update compensation structures and benefits packages.

 

HR Compliance:

  • Stay updated on labor laws and regulations in Pakistan, ensuring the organization's compliance.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation.

 

Learning and Development:

  • Identify training and development needs, and design relevant programs to enhance staff skills.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

 

HR Administration:

  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including payroll and MyAKF (HRIS).
  • Manage the HR budget efficiently.

 

Collaboration and Support:

  • Provide HR support to sister agencies, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with the AKF Global HR team to align local practices with global guidelines.

Active participation and contribution to the HR Community of Practice (HR CoP).

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A Master’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Proven experience in HR leadership roles, with a minimum of 7-10 years in HR management, including exposure to the development sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Pakistan's labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR teams.
  • A commitment to AKF Pakistan's mission and values.

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to envision and lead HR strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to guide and develop the HR team while fostering collaboration.
  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and resolve conflicts.
  • Compliance: In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Change Management: Ability to adapt to evolving HR trends and drive change within the organization.
  • Cultural Competency: Sensitivity to diverse cultures and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
